Across the Mississippi: Saint Louis

Asian Elephant Calf - Saint Louis Zoo

Continuing with the trips I've been on this spring, I went down to Saint Louis in April and visited the 3 major wildlife facilities there.

Saint Louis Zoo - It is still a top 5 zoo for me, even after having been to tons of zoos across the country. It just does so much so well and has a top notch animal collection. Highlights from this trip was the 5 month old baby Asian Elephant, getting to see all their rare hoofstock up and active, and seeing a baby takin spar with its mom!

Saint Louis Aquarium at Union Station - This is a really solid little aquarium with one really good shark tank and everything else being alright. Its a short visit and definitely more geared for little kids. Highlights were the rare Blue Lobster and watching Archerfish shoot water at prey.

World Bird Sanctuary - A unique collection of almost entirely birds of prey, its located in a gorgeous woodland outside of the city. They house an amazing array of some of the rarest raptors, and do a ton of breeding and rescue programs. The highlights here were seeing "Gracie" the Golden Eagle again (I worked with her at a rescue back in Kansas!), seeing a rescued Peregrine Flacon and hearing Bald Eagles call at one another!
